Awareness Programme on Gender and Gender based Violence
Pandemic has not been able to restrict us in delivering our message on the imperative of creation of a gender just society. Thanks to the indomitable spirit of our volunteers and community leaders, hard times did not deter us from organizing Awareness Programme among the community leaders of ward no 29, Bhubaneswar under the banner of five women federations (Ekta, Adarsha, Dharitri, Shree and Jai Hanuman Federations).
Since the outbreak of covid-19, emerging data and reports from those on the frontline, have shown that all types of violence against women and girl, particularly domestic violence has increased manifold. Sexual harassment and other forms of violence against women continued to occur on the streets, in public places and on online platforms. The National Commission for Women (NCW) registered an increase of 94% in complaint cases where women were assaulted in their homes during the lockdown. Taking these into account as well the feedbacks from our volunteers and community leaders Sadhana Foundation organized Awareness Programmes engaging community leaders and opinion makers on delivering last mile messages on gender equality and gender rights.

While the focus of formal education through learning institutions has been on helping people earn their livelihoods, life skill education imparted in adolescence is still a sense of dignity and purpose.
Communication, inter personal relationship, critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, decision making, coping with stress and emotions were the facets of Life Skill Education Programmes that were jointly organized by SWATI, Kandhamal and Sadhana Foundation, Bhubaneswar on 23rd December 2020.
