International Adventure Camp

International Adventures Camp-2023 was organised at Konark, puri from 3rd April to 6th April 2023 by Project Point, Khordha and Sadhana Foundation along with other partners and sponsoring agencies. Around 200 volunteers gathered there and participated in different activities and events like trekking and camping, rappelling, swimming, team building games and leadership activities, raft building, rope skills, campfire and cultural nights etc. Sh. Samir Ranjan Dash, Hon’ble Minister of Mass Education, Government of Odisha, Er. Tushar Kanti Behera, Hon’ble Minister, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Odisha, Sh. Muna Khan, MP, Rajya Sabha, Puri MLA Sh. Jayant Kumar Sarangi, OTDC Chairman Sh. Lenin Mohanty, Puri Collector Sh. Samartha Verma, SP Sh. Kanwal Vishal Singh were graced the occasion. Participants were from different countries including France, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Switzerland, Bhutan, Nepal, Indonesia and Bangladesh.

The programme has been conceptualized to energize young minds and stimulate the quest for discovery to develop their eco-consciousness, social commitments and in building up the spirit. The youths got this beautiful opportunity for self-learning and reflection.

Awareness Programme on “Role of Women in Community Development”

Sadhana Foundation organized an awareness programme on “Role of women in community Development” at Srirampur, Khordha on 7th May 2023 in collaboration with Institute For youth and Disaster preparedness (IYDP), a recognized NGO who has been working since last 38 years in the area of environment education, Climate change, disaster preparedness and management, youth development and women leadership. The active participation of community leaders was really amazing. Some grassroots leaders also shared their experiences after connecting with panchayat level federations and local self-help groups during the programme. They became aware about how women play a crucial role in society in various aspects i.e decision making process within the family and community such as marriage, job selection, land transactions, in community participation of developmental aspects, Income Generation activities through federation and self-help groups etc. Even throughout history, women have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the society. So, women are the key to sustainable development and quality of life in family.

Ms. Usharani Behera, State Coordinator, BGVS, Ms. Manjuprava Dhal, Secretary, CARD, Ms. Kalyani Sahoo, retired headmistress, Sarpanch, Patapur Sasan gram panchayat, Prof. Rabinarayan Panda, convener, IYDP along with other dignitaries graced the occasion and discussed the women rights and entitlements among them.

Celebration of “World Menstrual Hygiene Day”

We celebrated “World menstrual hygiene day” on 28th May 2023 at Thanapalli village of Dhalapathar Gram panchayat of Khordha district with community women and adolescent girls. It was designed to break the silence about menstrual hygiene management. The objectives of the programme were to address the challenges and hardships faced by many women and girls during menstruation and to increase access to and use of sanitary napkins. We also discussed for the safe disposal of napkins in an environmentally friendly manner. The adolescent girls and leaders got informed about some myths and taboos faced by them during menstruation though it has deeply rooted in the society in the name of purity and impurity.

Dr. Nibedita Bhola (AYUSH), Manibandha Primary health centre (new), Mr. Sanjay kumar Sethy (Multiple Health supervisor), Ms. Subasini Sahoo and Ms. Sephali Rout, female health worker, Mr. Suryakant Mohapatra and Ms. Sujata Mohapatra from Sadhana Foundation graced the occasion.

The programme was followed by a quiz competition and sanitary kits distribution among all the female participants.

Programme on “Educating Farmers on Organic Farming”

Sadhana Foundation organised an enlightening programme titled “Educating Farmers on Organic Farming,” on date 12th June 2023 aimed at revolutionizing agricultural practices. With a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, the foundation brought together experts and farmers to delve into the principles and practices of organic farming. Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, participants gained invaluable insights into soil health, natural pest management, and the significance of biodiversity in farming ecosystems. 

The workshop emphasized the importance of transitioning from conventional to organic methods, highlighting not only the ecological benefits but also the potential for increased yields and profitability. By empowering farmers with knowledge and resources, Sadhana Foundation is nurturing a community of environmentally conscious agriculturalists poised to lead the way towards a healthier, more sustainable future for farming and food production.
